Some Homosexualities

and the Challenge of Analytical Psychology

Today the subject of “homosexuality” stimulates enormous conflicts and challenges to our basic orientations in theology, politics, and psychology.  Often assumptions are made to foster a sense of understanding and knowing, while avoiding the complexities, paradoxes, and mysteries of human sexuality.

 

In its emphasis on amplifying the purpose embedded in erotic experience, analytical psychology has a unique and controversial perspective to contribute.  This talk will reflect on just a few “homosexualities” to explore an approach that seeks not a “theory of homosexuality,” but an intensification and deepening of the relationship to the dynamic nature of the psyche itself.

 

Barry Miller, PhD is a Jungian analyst and clinical psychologist in West Hollywood.  In addition to serving as faculty at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles, he lectures frequently on dreams, sexuality, and transference and counter-transference issues.
